Coastal Texas Protection and Restoration Feasibility Study

Coastal Texas Protection and Restoration Feasibility Study

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in partnership with the Texas General Land Office, is examining the feasibility of constructing projects for coastal storm risk management and ecosystem restoration along the Texas coast.  Surfrider chapters are following the process and providing comments on different alternatives being proposed to ensure future plans avoid unnecessary coastal armoring and incorporate ‘soft coastal erosion’ mechanisms including living shorelines and restored dunes. In addition, chapters are advocating that sea level rise be incorporated into future planning.
