Campaigns are a key strategy Surfrider uses to protect our ocean, waves and beaches.
They are how we protect our special coastal places, ensure our ocean is healthy and wild, keep pollution out of the water and make sure every beach is clean and accessible for all to enjoy. When we win a campaign, it’s called a victory. Surfrider defines a victory as a decision by a governing body that protects the coastal and ocean environment, improves coastal access, or both.
Better Public Notice of Beach Pollution in Hawaii
The goal of this campaign is to convince the Hawaii State Department of Health to post warning signs at chronically polluted beaches and at any beach when a Brown Water Advisory is issued, similar to signs posted by lifeguards to warn beach goers of rough wave conditions.
